Peter Jander, born in 1954 in Cape Town, is one of South Africa foremost Impressionist landscape painters, though he prefers to simply be called a "landscape painter". After attending SACS and initially pursuing a career as a physical trainer, he became a full-time artist in 1980. Although he received some guidance from the renowned artist Arthur Mant on color mixing,  Jander is largely self-taught. His work is deeply influenced by the great Impressionists, yet he has developed a unique style that captures the mood and atmosphere of a moment in a distinctly contemporary way. Janders passion for painting brings his works to life, and his talent has earned him over 160 solo exhibitions, as well as collaborative shows with artists such as Gabriel de Jongh, Errol Boyley, and Eric Wale. He also regularly exhibits in the UK, and in recent years, his paintings have been included in prestigious auction houses in both Cape Town and internationally.
