The Overberg Commando [Afr: Overberg-Kommando] was established at Caledon as the Caledon Rifle Commando [Afr: Skietkommando Caledon] after 1948. It became the Caledon Commando under the SADF around 1958 and was eventually renamed to Overberg Commando in the late 1980's. During the SADF period it was organised under the Group 2 HQ in the Western Province Command.
